The green & brown striped awning, the huge Italian concrete
planters and the extra long antique wood benches on either side of the
front doors make you wonder what could possibly be inside. The sound of
a beautiful Italian concrete fountain welcomes you into the store. WGHG
is a 5,000 square foot store filled with a fantastic mix of quality
furniture, upholstery, lamps, home and garden accessories, gifts,
garden statuary, pots and fountains and revamped found treasures. Most
of the store is set up with rooms just like in a home. Unlike most
furniture stores, everything at Willow Glen Home & Garden can be
purchased off the floor. Quite often people bring in measurements
and photos of the room they are working on. We are able to offer advice
and suggestions at no charge.
Steve Gilbert, Carmen Grande and Meg
Picanco bring over 40 years of combined experience in retail and design
work to WGHG. Steve is well known in Willow Glen for his stunning
design projects for both the home and the garden. He created the look
of the store by building the walls and sales counter himself. The
tromple l'oeil painting in the garden area is his fantastic work in
progress. Meg founded
Casa Casa with
her mom Nancy Biagini in 1992 and owned it for 13 years. She created
the look everyone loved so much. Carmen was a designer at Casa Casa for
14 years. Her inspiration comes from her friends at the Los Gatos
Porch. She loves to mix classic pieces with something unexpected. "As
much time was we spend at home, you should love being there," Carmen
says. "Life is too short to live with white walls."
So many
people are intimidated by designers. We offer in home consultation in a
very casual setting. We help with color choices, space planning,
furniture selection and accessorizing. Usually an hour in home
consultation ($125) is enough. The remainder of the work is done in the
store at no charge. We specialize in helping people create a home that
really reflects who they are. We do this by pulling together what they
have and then add what they need. We offer a check list of things we
suggest be done in the home. The client can then work on each item as
their budget allows.
